A Review of Mental Toughness

In the scientific and sport community, mental toughness is viewed as one of the most important attributes that will lead to a successful athletic performance (Bull, Shambrook, James, & Brooks, 2005). At the highest level it is often the mental game which separates the elite performers from the good performers (Gould, Jackson, & Finch, 1993).

Robin, fantastic article!!  I liked it so much that I saved it to my favorites tab.  Judging from all your past post I can tell that you place a strong emphasis on sports psychology and performance.  I also feel this... more »Robin, fantastic article!!  I liked it so much that I saved it to my favorites tab.  Judging from all your past post I can tell that you place a strong emphasis on sports psychology and performance.  I also feel this way.  Many people are born with natural motor abilities that translate into great sports performance.  However, those that are mentally resilient/strong are the ones that become professionals.  Additionally, I think many of these sport psychology aspects can be applied to everyday activities/employment not just sports. 03-22-2015 3:03am
